Definition of Indonesian Muslim Ummah

This explanation shows that it as difficult to speak in the name of the Indonesian Muslim Ummah as it is to define exactly who or what the Indonesian Muslim Ummah actually is. Therefore, when Muslim leaders speak in the name of the Muslim Ummah, they are in fact unable to truly represent the diversity inherent in the Indonesian Muslim community. They will never be able to speak as though they have a mandate to represent the interests of the whole of Indonesia’s Muslims.

Agree ! Liberal Islam must be included in the picture of the word Islam. Words have no meaning. People put meaning into words. As such the meaning of Islam is the total meanings given by every individual. But only the best meaning is taken as per Allah’s firman. AlQuran 39:18 “Listen to all choose the best.They are the guided, the intelligent.”

so are you trying to be semantic here on what Indonesian ummah actually means?
I just want to speak with the fact that Muslim Ummah is divided into many sects like Shiah, Sunni which attack each other.
Muslim organizations like Fatah and Hamas also kill each other in Palestine despite of the same “big enemy” they have in common : Israel. How come?
There are also wahabi and khawarij that are kind of hardliners even among the muslims. They don’t have same interpretation regarding the holy book. The different interpretation is so fierce.
With this kind of facts, how can any muslim leader speak in the name of Muslim Ummah?
How can Ayatollah Khomeini speak in the name of Saudi Arabia, for example?. And, how can Habib Rizieq or Abubakar Baasyir speak in the name of Nahdlatul Ulama?. I just speak with data and fact, nothing else.
