Liberal Islam Network's Program

There are some program we did recently:

Liberal Islam Writer Syndication. Collecting writings from some known (or unknown) writers whose concern withstand on pluralism and inclusivism themes. This syndication would provide writing's resources, interviews, and qualified articles for local newspapers which usually difficult to find good writers. Withstanding government policy on autonomy, local newspapers having more vital jobs than ever, and the sounds of "tolerant religion" is also important to deliver with.

Talkshow at Radio 68H News Office. This talkshow will invite public figures whose known as plural and inclusive's "fighter" to discuss about many socio-religious issues in the Country. The show will be held weekly and broadcasted accross Radio namlapanha's network around Indonesia. The network consisted of 40 radio, including: Radio namlapanha Jakarta, Radio Smart (Manado), Radio DMS (Maluku), Radio Unisi (Yogyakarta), Radio PTPN (Solo), Radio Mara (Bandung), Radio Prima FM (Aceh).

Books Publishing. Islam Liberal Network also publishes books concern on religious pluralism and inclusive religiousity, from transtlation, compilation, even also republishing some old books that still relevan with the themes. Recently, we had published a book that compile articles, interviews, and discussions that we had held, titled as Wajah Liberal Islam di Indonesia (The Face of Liberal Islam in Indonesia). The next book would be published is about critising the Syariat Islam (Islamic Policy) practices.

Booklet Publishing. Different than the previous, it's consist of 40-50 pages, a thin version of book, it's a publication of unabridged or abridged articles and interviews which focusing on "hot" issues which usually debated in religious interpretation and is usually used as an armor by some groups to campign their voices, like: Jihad, practices of Syariat Islam, a biased practices of amr ma'ruf, nahy munkar (command do the good and prevent do the bad), etc. First booklet have been published is Koran for Women, written by Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, Master Lecturer of IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. Our recent booklet is Critics of Jilbab, a translation of Muhammad Sa'id al Asymawi's, a lawyer and notable person on comparative studies on conventional-Islamic law; this book debating the legalisation of chador (veil) practices in some muslim countries.

IslamLib.com Website. It documented all our publications including syndications and discussions (off-air and mailing list). It originally comes after our succeed on the mailing list (islamliberal@yahoogroups.com) which get so many positive appraisals. Our mailing list (which still run until recent) now formed as restricted discussion only.

Public Campaign. We have produced campaigns, including on televisions and radios, that mainly focuses to spread our voices to gather more and wider public attention and eliminate the possibilities of inter-and-cross religion conflict in Indonesia. These campaigns are broadcasted accross private and state owned stations, including some community owned station around Indonesia. We were recently produced two campigns, whose themes are: Violence and Plural's Religion in Indonesia and The Tolerate and Plural of Islam (The Colorful Islam).

Discussions on Islam. We also held so many Islamic dicussions (off-air and on-air), even some events is in cooperated with other organisation, including are: Goethe Institute, and Teater Utan Kayu. We also held a roadshow dicussion in campuses and educational institutions around Indonesia. Our recent roadshow is book discussion of The Face of Liberal Islam Indonesia in University of Indonesia, Diponegoro University in Semarang, Institut Pertanian Bogor, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta, etc.
